Why Northwind
Marine? Over the past 20 years, the group at NORTHWIND MARINE
has earned a reputation for building the highest quality aluminum vessels for
both commercial and pleasure use.
NORTHWIND MARINE, headed by President Bruce Reagan, is especially proud of
its outstanding employees, superb craftsmanship and operating procedures, which
combine traditional craftsmanship with advanced marine construction methods.
NORTHWIND MARINE has built an exceptionally wide variety of vessels for fire
departments, search and rescue, law enforcement, and the military; pollution
control and hazardous materials response agencies; the commercial fishing
industry; passenger carrying and dive boat operators; and yacht owners who
expect the very best. NORTHWIND MARINE is an organization where everyone
shares the customer first vision, an uncompromising dedication to
quality, and a desire to improve constantly through technology.
NORTHWINDs distinction for building the most challenging boat designs is
exceptional. The NORTHWIND group has built passenger carrying submarines,
pleasure craft, and award-winning sailing and motor yachts, and completed many
vessel modifications such as hull extensions, helipads and complete
superstructures. The NORTHWIND group, which includes Sovereign Yacht, has
received awards from Showboats Magazine, Maritime Reporter Magazine, and the
International Superyacht Society. The American Bureau of Shipping awarded
its highest rating of Maltese Cross A-1 Yachting Service to
Sovereigns 110-foot sailing yacht Venturosa.
Why aluminum? Aluminum is
clearly the deciding factor when ruggedness, corrosion resistance, lowest
maintenance costs, and length of service are important considerations. In
strength to weight ratios, aluminum is lighter than wood, fiberglass, or steel,
and is more rugged, fire resistant, and much less vulnerable to impact than
fiberglass or wood. It is much easier to maintain than steel and will not
rust. It will not blister, rot, spark, or magnetize, and is virtually
fireproof. There is simply no other shipbuilding material that can take
it and dish it out like todays tough marine grade aluminum alloys.
When considering life cycle cost, aluminum boats cost less,
last longer, and have the highest resale values.
